Yes. Alimony and maintenance payments are not included in bankruptcy or a consumer proposal. They must be paid on time and in the full amount. Filing a proposal or bankruptcy will not stop the collection process (seizure of assets, court filings, wage garnisheeing, etc.). Additionally, if you are in arrears on alimony or maintenance when you file for bankruptcy, the exemption limits on your assets may be lowered, depending on the province you live in.
