I have filed for bankruptcy, but why am I still getting calls and letters from collection agencies?
If some of your debts have been turned over to a collection agency, the lender may be slow to notify the collection agency, even though your trustee will notify all creditors who lent you money of your bankruptcy application within five business days of filing for bankruptcy. If this happens, simply tell the collection agency that they must, by law, contact your trustee from now on. Then give them his or her name and phone number.
