A big worry for many of the people contemplating bankruptcy is how it will affect their work status.
Bankruptcy will not be relevant to the vast majority of jobs. Certain positions in the finance, legal, and security professions may have limits on the type of work you can do if you are in the process of bankruptcy and for a period of time after the bankruptcy is discharged.
If you are currently in a position which may be affected by your bankruptcy (accounting, chief financial officer, handling trusts, investments, large amounts of cash, or if you have signing privileges for company cheques, etc.), you can probably work out a solution. Talk to your bankruptcy trustee about the steps that will best safeguard your professional future.
Other jobs may require you to agree to a credit check as part of the hiring process, in which case a bankruptcy could count against you.
